Thailand, the land of the free, is located in Southeastern Asia, bordering the Andaman Sea and the Gulf
of Thailand. It has land area about 511,770 sq. km, slightly more than twice the size of Wyoming State of
the United States.
In its about 800 years history, Thailand is the only country in Southeast Asia never to have been colonized by
western nations. Since a bloodless revolution in 1932, a constitutional monarchy was established in Thailand.
Kingdom of Thailand has 64,865,523 (2004 estimate) population, including 75% Thai, 14% Chinese, and
11% others. Thai is the official national language but English is secondary language of the elite.
Thailand has a free-enterprise economy and welcomes foreign investment.
Thailand uses baht (THB) as its currency. In 2003, baht per US dollar exchange rate is
about 41.4846. Based on 2003 data, Thailand has 6,031,300 Internet users.
