Taiwan Taiwan
-- A Favorite Travel Destination and
        An Asia's Economic "Tigers"

Taiwan is located in Eastern Asia, bordering the East China Sea, Philippine Sea, South China Sea, and Taiwan Strait, and north of the Philippines, off the southeastern coast of China. Taiwan has land area about 32,260 sq. km., slightly smaller than Maryland and Delaware combined.

With 22,749,838 (July 2004 estimate) population, the island has prospered to become one of East Asia's economic "Tigers". During past several decades, Taiwan gradually developed into an economic power in the Asia-Pacific region, and a major manufacturer of computers and many other hi-tech products.

With diverse culture, theme parks, golf courses, beaches, pleasant climate, convenient transportation and friendly people, Taiwan is currently one of the favorite business and leisure travel destinations of the world.

Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, is a beautiful modern city with many tourist attractions.

The National Palace Museum houses the world's largest collection of priceless Chinese art treasures with nearly 5,000-year history. Most of the museum's 620,000 art works were part of the Chinese imperial collection, which began over 1,000 years ago in the early Sung dynasty.

Taipei Zoo, located in the rolling hills of suburban Mucha, is one of the largest in Asia and is comparable to San Diego's world-famous zoo.

Window on China has the second-largest collection of miniature structures in the world. Its meticulously executed scale-model reproductions on famous buildings from Taiwan and China and other parts of the world.

Alishan (Ali Mountains) encompasses 18 mountains and is a branch of the Yushan Mountain Range. The five wonders of Alishan are sunrise, sea of clouds, sunset, forests, and alpine railway--in addition, there is also the culture of the Tsou aborigines, which makes a tour of Alishan even more interesting.
