The Bahamas
    -- A Caribbean Paradise

The Bahamas is a chain of islands in the North Atlantic Ocean, southeast off the coast of Florida. This islands chain, including New Providence Island, Paradise Island and Grand Bahama Island, has land area about 10,070 square kilometers, slightly smaller than Connecticut State of the United States.

The Bahamas has 299,697 (2004 estimate) population, including 85% black, 12% white, 3% Asian and Hispanic. English is the official language in Bahamas.

The Bahamas attained independence from the UK in 1973. Today, the Bahamas is a stable, developing nation with an economy heavily dependent on tourism and offshore banking. Tourism alone accounts for more than 60% of GDP and directly or indirectly employs 40% of the archipelago's labor force.

With warm and crystal clear waters, white and pink sandy beaches, luxury beachfront resorts, and a quick 25-minute flight from Florida's southeast coast, the Bahamas is one of the Caribbean favorite destinations for tropical vacation.

Nassau offers visitors opportunity to explore the Old Town's colonial architectures from a horse-drawn carriage, and to enjoy the lifestyle of the rich and famous in beautiful resorts on Cable Beach and nearby Paradise Island.

The Atlantis Resort, located on the sandy beach of Paradise Island, is the largest island resort in the world. This expensive ocean-themed resort presents to visitors the Royal Towers with a 100,000 sq. ft. entertainment complex, a spectacular 44 acre waterscape with waterfalls, 14 pools, 7 acre snorkeling lagoon, 5 storey Mayan temple with 5 feature water slides, Predator logoon with underwater viewing tunnel of live sharks and mysterious undersea world, over 20 specialty restaurants and bars, 10 night-lit tennis courts, full service health club and spa, as well as boutiques and gift shops.
