A nation with powerful economy
Germany is one of the world's most technologically powerful nation and major leisure and business
travel destinations.
Germany is located in Central Europe, bordering the Baltic Sea and the North Sea, between the Netherlands
and Poland, and south of Denmark. With total land area about 349,223 square kilometers, Germany is
slightly smaller than Montana of the United States.
Germany has about 82,424,609 (July 2004 estimate) population, including German 91.5%, Turkish 2.4%,
other 6.1% (made up largely of Serbo-Croatian, Italian, Russian, Greek, Polish and Spanish). German is the
official language.
Germany possesses the world's third most technologically powerful economy after the US and Japan, and is
the richest and most populous nation in Western Europe. In January 1999, Germany and 10 other EU
countries formed a common European currency, the euro. The adoption of a common European currency and
the general political and economic integration of Europe will bring major changes to the German economy
in the early 21st century.

Berlin,
the capital of the Federal Republic of Germany, is a historical city. Built in 1788, Brandenburg
Gate is Berlin's premier historic landmark. Egyptian Museum, Reichstag (German Parliament),
Charlottenburg Palace, Siegessaule (Victory Column) are some other highlights of Berlin.
Munich
is an exciting city and Germany's cultural capital with a major university, several symphony
orchestras, opera houses and theaters, and world-class museums. The famous Glockenspiel, New City Hall,
