Hawaiian People
Based on U.S. Bureau of the Census July 1999 estimate, about 1,185,497 people
inhibit the Hawaii's island chain's land area of 16,700 square kilometers. By
origin, about 33% of Hawaii population originated in Europe or America, and 63% related
to Asian and Pacific Islanders. Pure Hawaiian people total about 10,000 in Hawaii
State (1992 estimate). However, The mixed ethnic group, some with part Hawaiian
ancestry, is the largest group in Hawaii.
Hawaii uses English and Hawaiian as official languages. Most Hawaii's residents speak
English and some Hawaii native language. You will be welcomed by Hawaiian with "Aloha" (hello), and
they will thank you by "Mahalo".

Hawaii - The Big Island
