Kauai Beaches

All Hawaii's beaches are free and open to public. Kauai Island has many beautiful and peaceful beaches. Most Kauai beaches have picnic tables and facilities, others are perfect for water sports, including swimming, snorkeling, diving, windsurfing, fishing, as well as beach volleyball.

Kalapaki Beach is in Lihue. This sand beach is known as one of the best swimming beaches on the Kauai Island.

Lumahai Beach is on Route 560, east of Wainiha. This sand beach is the most photographed beach on the island because of its exceptional natural beauty. Produced on Kauai Island, the musical movie "South Pacific" presented picturesque Lumahai Beach with its green mountains, blue ocean, black lava rock, and golden sand beach.

Kee Beach is at the end of Route 560. It is a good place for snorkeling and swimming. Because of large coral reef protecting this beach area, Kee Beach provides visitors a calmer waters suitable for all kinds of water sports except in high surf days. Facilities include shower, drinking water and restrooms. It is also a nice beach for family picnic.

Poipu Beach Park is located at the end of Poipu Road. With steady breezes and clam waters, this long white sand beach is marvelous place for swimming, snorkeling and diving. Beach facilities include restrooms, showers, and picnic tables.

Salt Pond Beach is off the Lokokai Road, southwest of Hanapepe. This sandy beach is good for water sport. It provides picnic tables, grill and campsites for family vacation. Showers and rest rooms are available.
