Maui has 42 miles of uncrowded sandy beaches along its 120 miles sunny coastline. With climate varies with average
temperatures from 72°F to 79°F, it is a perfect place for outdoor sports and beach activities.
All these beaches are free and open to the public. Some beaches have picnic tables and facilities, others are perfect
for water sports.
Kama'ole Beach Parks I, II, III
Along the coast parallel to the Piilani Highway at the southern end of of Kihei, there are Kamaole I,
Kamaole II and Kamaole III Beaches. These beaches are excellent for swimming, snorkeling and kayaking,
water-skiing, and beach volleyball. All these beaches have showers, restrooms, and lifeguards.
Kamaole III is the biggest and the most popular among the Kamaole Beaches.
Across South Kihei Road from these Kama'ole Beaches, there are many waterfront or waterview
vacation rental condominiums. These condos close to shopping centers, supermarkets, gift shops,
and local restaurants. Therefore this South Maui beach area is tourists favorite vacation town.
Keawakapu Beach
Located in the north of Wailea off South Kihei Road, Keawakapu Beach is one of the longest beaches in South Maui. Its
crystal-clear and shallow water provides a superb condition for snorkeling and swimming.
Maalaea Beach
Maalaea Beach is located in the north of Kihei off Li'ilani Highway. This three-mile beach is situated between
two mountains which form Maui Island. Therefore it is a wind tunnel and popular for surfing.
Makena Beach
Makena Beach is divided into Big Beach and Little Beach. They are located at the south of Wailea. Both beaches are
good places for swimming, snorkeling and sunbathing. Little Beach is unofficially "clothing optional".
Ulua Beach
Located in the south of Wailea, Ulua Beach is one of the best snorkeling beaches on the Maui Island. It is also
an ideal place for swimming, diving, and boardsurfing.
