There are some Museums and a few historical places on Molokai Island, such as St. Joseph's Church
built in 1876 by Father Damien.
Father Damien
Father Damien arrived at Kapaupapa in 1873. He came to help sick people with leprosy disease. He built
the shelters, installed water pipeline and nursed the sick. His faith and work inspired so many others.
Now the Statue of Father Damien stands beside his church on Molokai's Kalaupapa.
RW Meyer Sugar Mill
RW Meyer Sugar Mill is located in Kalae off Hwy 470. In 1870s German immigrant Meyer turned his land
to a sugar mill. This historical place shows the old steam engine and other machines used in the past
time of this small island.
